Our Mission Statement

Alger Parks and Rec is a public, charitable, non-profit 501c3, formed in January 2012. We exist to:
    1. Provide programs, special events, and facilities to stimulate the socialization, safety, good health and the physical development of the individual and family, as related to the needs and interests of our residents.
    2. Provide programs, special events, and facilities to stimulate our local economy.
    3. Encourage the use of all community facilities such as parks, libraries, schools and the like.
    4. Coordinate programs where possible with Moffatt Township and Arenac County.
    5. Provide a diverse organization that communicates openly through teamwork.
    6. Anticipate the area’s needs for future generations.

Our goal is to not only to provide yearly events such as the Easter Egg Hunt, Alger Ball (t-ball/softball/baseball), Moffatt Township Food Baskets, Trunk or Treat and the Children’s Christmas Party, but also to upgrade our parks, with the addition of playground and sporting equipment.

Our biggest fundraiser of the year is Music in the Park, which provides necessary support via gate sales, food, refreshments, beer and wine, and of course our wonderful raffle items kindly donated by local area businesses. Secondly, we also rely on personal donations from generous individuals and corporations, and pursuing available grants in order to fulfill our funding needs.

Finally yet importantly, we rely on you, our volunteers, to make every venture a success – it’s all a community effort!

Your contributions are 100% tax-deductible
